Disc 1 Summer Sonic Osaka 2018 Maishima, Osaka, Japan — August 18, 2018 This disc features live performances from both days of “Summer Sonic 2018,” held over two days on August 18th and 19th in Chiba and Osaka, Japan, using various audience footage, including mobile videos. The Osaka performance on the 18th includes only two songs, while the Chiba performance on the 19th, where they were the headliners, includes 10 songs, for a total of one hour. Although both are digest versions, the video sources are of good quality, resulting in many stable camera angles. The performances on both days are fantastic, featuring songs from their album “Colors,” released the previous year, as well as their representative hits to date. Disc 2: Devils Haircut Miss You / Blue Monday / Once In A Lifetime ZOZO Marine Stadium, Chiba, Japan — August 19, 2018 Devils Haircut Loser Colors Wow Sexx Laws Dreams Girl Up All Night E-Pro Where It’s At Approx: 61 mins Disc 2: Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan — October 23, 2017 This release captures two shows by Devils Haircut, a one-time visit to Japan hastily arranged in conjunction with the release of their 2017 album “Colors,” specifically the performances at Nippon Budokan on October 23rd and Shinkiba Studio Coast on October 24th, using various audience footage, including mobile recordings. With 12 songs from Budokan and 17 songs from Shinkiba Studio Coast, the total running time is 114 minutes. Neither show is complete, but the footage is a selection of good quality from multiple audience sources, resulting in many stable camera angles. These were their first solo performances since 2009, and their emergency visit to Japan made them premiere shows. The sets included not only their past hits, but also three songs from “Colors” at Budokan: “Dreams,” “Wow,” and “Up All Night,” and two more, “Dreams” and “Wow,” at Studio Coast. True to the title “Colors,” they unfolded a flawless pop world, presenting a series of sparkling, colorful auditory tricks. This release couples approximately 73 minutes of live footage from Austin, Texas on October 10th with approximately 45 minutes of KROQ’s broadcast-quality live footage from Irvine, California on May 31st. The Texas footage features a setlist that is almost a full concert. Backed by a lineup of strong, unique, and highly skilled musicians, the band has played numerous live shows since the release of their new album in March, and they seem to be in top form. It’s a fantastic performance. As usual, there is only one new song, “Blue Moon,” but it’s a delightful live show with many hit numbers and a string of songs you’ll want to hear, as if summarizing their career. There are some pauses due to webcast issues. Please forgive us, as this is due to the master recording. The KROQ footage is shorter, but it’s a performance that generated a lot of excitement in a relatively small venue. This video collection has many highlights, allowing you to enjoy their unique playing style, such as Roger’s keyboards and Jason’s guitar, throughout the show. The recording time is 110 minutes, using a menu chapter format. They also played a big role in his latest album “Morning Phase”. And the new (?) tambourine player is super cute. It’s so fun. It’s so great. They play lots of songs from the 90s and the 2000s. But for those of you who feel a little sad that the only new song is “Blue Moon”, I have good news for you. The bonus footage, a 36-minute studio live performance from Santa Monica on April 16th, features a selection of mostly new songs. Beck’s gentle and sensitive singing voice speaks softly to the listener. This is the ultimate item, featuring Coachella 2014 pro-shot footage plus bonus footage.
