This 4-disc live DVD collection, featuring approximately 6 hours of footage, compiles CHIC’s performances from 2012-2013, led by Nile Rodgers! A major draw of this collection is that it includes not only CHIC’s signature songs, but also numerous global hits produced and written by Nile Rodgers. From “Le Freak” and “Good Times” to “Like a Virgin,” “Let’s Dance,” “Notorious,” and “Get Lucky,” this 360-minute 4-disc collection allows you to experience Nile Rodgers’ brilliant musical history live. Details for each disc are below. Disc 1: First up is their performance at the “EXIT FESTIVAL” held in Serbia on July 10, 2013. This is a spectacular party where numerous CHIC and Nile Rodgers-produced songs that dominated the 80s hit charts are boldly revived in the 2010s. With such a lineup of classic songs including Madonna, David Bowie, Duran Duran, and Sister Sledge, and as the final song ended and the exit music (?) of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” featuring Nile, began to play, the large audience, reluctant to see them go, began to sing along, and Nile, who was on his way out, stopped walking and happily responded to them for a long time. It was a wonderful scene that served as proof of what an amazing live performance it was. There is about 10 minutes of Femi Kuti’s performance at the beginning, which appears to be the same as what was included on Master (so Chic’s recording time is about 90 minutes). It is a Glastonbury miracle that could only be achieved by Chic’s large-scale, incredibly groove-inducing sound universe that swallows up both rock and disco. During the climax “Good Times,” the stage was packed with people! It was incredible. Everyone in the venue was jumping and clapping. Glastonbury has left behind many感動 and legends, but it is rare to see a live performance where the stage and the audience are so completely united. We are delighted to report that he came to Japan this past April, a memory still fresh in our minds. This live performance took place three months after that visit, and while there are some changes to the setlist, it is very close to that of the Japanese performance.
