This is a rebroadcast of the Stockholm performance on May 20, 1958 from the JATP (Jazz at the Philharmonic) European tour started by Norman Granz. This is a truly historic unreleased live sound source and a must-listen album for jazz fans has arrived. After Norman Glance’s announcement, Coleman Hawkins appears. The powerful and dynamic tenor of Ellington’s signature song “Azure” is definitely attractive. Next up was “Somrthing I’m Happy” featuring trumpet master Roy Eldridge, followed by Sonny Stitt’s “Stardust” and Gillespie’s “A Night in Tunisia”, and the J TP Stockholm performance, which featured historical performances by legends one after another.
