This is an “official alternative” that should be placed alongside “ROCK IN RIO,” “DEATH ON THE ROAD,” and “EN VIVO!”. However, while those official works also had video versions, the Stockholm performance was only broadcast on radio. Therefore, we present to you this masterpiece video compilation of pro-shot footage from “A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH TOUR 2006-2007.” This work is a two-disc set, with one disc containing studio footage and the other containing stage footage. First, disc 1 is the “studio section.” It contains two studio sessions recorded at Abbey Road Studios on December 10, 2006, and three promotional videos. The Abbey Road Studios session was filmed for a program, and there was no audience. Following an interview, they perform two songs, “Brighter Than A Thousand Suns” and “Hallowed By Thy Name.” Unlike their usual live performances, their focus on playing while checking each other’s rhythm is very refreshing. Even Dickinson, who runs around on stage, closes his eyes and immerses himself in his vocals and music. Moreover, at this point, they are nearing the end of the first half of the tour, and the ensemble is perfectly polished. It is a superb live performance that is both ingrained in their bodies with mastery and as polished as a studio recording. This is a famous video with many sources overflowing on the internet, but this release is recorded from the original master without the program logo (we made it a two-disc set to convey the quality to the fullest). After those two songs, all of the promotional videos for “A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH” are included. The first two clips, “Different World” and “The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg,” are clips that mainly show the recording process. It is probably “Sarm West Studios” where the album was recorded, but it does not feel out of place when viewed after Abbey Road. The last is the CG clip for “Different World.” There are only a few band performance scenes, and it is a sci-fi clip in which a CG Bruce Dickinson runs around in a futuristic world. To be honest, looking at it with modern eyes, the CG from 10 years ago is a little cheesy, which is kind of endearing. These clips were taken from officially produced single DVDs and promotional discs. Disc 2, on the other hand, is the “Live Edition.” It’s a full pro-shot of their headlining performance at “Download Festival 2007” on June 10, 2007, which took place six months after Disc 1. Because it’s a webcast from 10 years ago, the movements are a little awkward at times (don’t worry, it’s not a player malfunction), but it’s the highest quality version to date. And this footage is the only full pro-shot of “A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH TOUR 2006-2007.” As 2007 began, instead of a complete album performance, the style changed to a setlist billed as “The Number of the Beast’s 25th Anniversary,” featuring half songs from their third album and half from “A Matter of Life and Death” (typical Harris, refusing to play “Invaders” or “Gangland”…). To be frank, it was more of a “normal style” live show mixing new songs and classics rather than “half from each of the two albums.” Even though it was only half, it was rare to see pro-shot footage of the “A Matter of Life and Death” songs, and Dickinson made a spectacular stumble during “Wrathchild” (his embarrassed reaction was hilarious), and for some reason he even spoke the opening monologue of “The Number of the Beast” himself—a series of rare moments. And of course, you can’t miss the giant Eddie in “Iron Maiden” and “The Evil That Men Do”! This is a rare video featuring Tank Eddie and Soldier Eddie, captured in multi-camera pro-shot footage. While their appearance during the break in “Iron Maiden” is customary, this tour is the only one where they completely stop playing to emphasize the sound of the tank tracks. The heavy atmosphere is captured from a variety of angles by the multi-cameras, and each camera moves around with dynamic angles and zooms to create a spectacle. This is truly an ultra-rare scene unique to this day and this video. A superb quality studio live performance and a precious full pro-shot. There are other minor TV broadcasts, but this is pretty much the only pro-shot version of ‘A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH’ available. The world of ‘A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH’ cannot be experienced even if you collect ‘ROCK IN RIO’, ‘DEATH ON THE ROAD’, and ‘EN VIVO!’. Please enjoy this pro-shot version to the fullest!
