Description
This release captures the historic opening night of Rush’s “Fifty Something Tour”—marking their return to live performance after 11 years—held in Los Angeles on June 7, 2026. The 2-hour-40-minute recording utilizes multi-camera audience footage. Produced and edited by overseas fans, the video employs a wealth of camera angles that shift rapidly within individual songs; it features close-ups of the two frontmen and the drummer, while also incorporating the spectacular visuals shown on the giant screens. The audio is based on a separately recorded audience source that has been custom-remixed and remastered to perfectly synchronize with the video. The result is a complete recreation of this precious opening-night performance with visual quality rivaling that of a professional shoot. Much attention was focused on who would fill Neil Peart’s shoes; the band launched this tour—their first as a quartet—with German drummer Anika Nilles (known for her work with Jeff Beck, as well as her roles as a composer and producer) and an added keyboardist. The show kicked off with a surprise: a performance of “Xanadu” clocking in at over ten minutes—a first in the band’s history. The concert proceeded in two parts, featuring a “best-of” setlist centered on their signature tracks. Tribute sections honoring Neil Peart were woven throughout the show; tribute videos played before “Bravado” and “Time Stand Still,” and a major highlight saw Aimee Mann—who performed on the original studio version—appear as a guest to recreate that classic song live on stage. The encore performance of “Working Man” featured visuals of the band’s original drummer, John Rutsey—a touch that evoked the band’s 50-year history. A major highlight of this four-show run at The Forum was that the setlist changed significantly each night; notably, “Natural Science” and “Caravan” were performed exclusively on this date. This release is a must-have for longtime fans, perfectly capturing the magic of this spectacular comeback opener with top-tier audio and video quality.
