The album *Return to Forever*, released under his own name by ECM in 1972, is a masterpiece often cited as the starting point of his musical journey. It was recorded with a lineup featuring Joe Farrell, Stanley Clarke, Airto Moreira, and the group’s sole female member, Flora Purim. Beyond Chick Corea’s signature lyrical piano playing infused with Latin flavors, the acoustic bass work of a young Stanley Clarke is also outstanding.
