Description
A meticulously polished version of the live recordings from Keith Jarrett’s first performance at the Apollo Theater in Paris in 1970, specifically the April 18th and April 24th shows, has been released. First, the backing band members have been revised, with Charlie Haden on bass and Paul Motian on drums. We received instructions regarding this from a collector about six years ago, but since Haden and Motian were also mentioned in Klaus Mueller’s “Keith Jarrett Discography Vol. 6,” the website of world-renowned jazz recording collector Peter Rosin, and other Keith Jarrett research sites, we have made a comprehensive decision to use these members for this definitive edition. As for the revisions, we have corrected as many of the skips found in the old title as possible, and also corrected the pitch in those sections. What will surprise you even more is the clear sound quality; it is hard to believe that this is an audience recording from half a century ago, and it has been restored to a clear, natural sound image that does not sound digital, allowing you to feel Keith’s breath. While some recordings that have simply had their EQ tweaked are circulating under the guise of remastering, this recording offers a sound quality that is worlds apart.
