Description

An extraordinary situation is unfolding! A massive amount of top-quality, fully official-grade soundboard recordings have suddenly been unearthed from Port Chester! The THE MOODY BLUES edition is now being released urgently!! This recent surge of discoveries is truly extraordinary and shocking. We don’t know the reason or circumstances, but various previously unreleased soundboard recordings have suddenly started appearing without any warning. The bands/artists are not consistent at all, but there are clear commonalities. These are the “releaser/venue/year”. They are being released online by the same person, the live venue is the famous Port Chester venue, the Capital Theatre, and the years are almost entirely concentrated in the 2010s. We cannot say for certain, but judging from this circumstantial evidence, these may have been recorded by staff who worked at the Capital Theatre in the 2010s. The first announcement of this new discovery series is being released all at once. This release is the first soundboard recording of the “November 27, 2012 Port Chester” performance, which is the THE MOODY BLUES edition. At that time, nine years had passed since their final album, “DECEMBER,” but their live performances were as active as ever. Let’s start by reviewing an overview of their activities at that time. 2012 “THE VOYAGE CONTINUES – HIGHWAY 45 Tour” March 11th – April 21st: USA #1 (33 shows) May 30th + June 1st: South Africa (2 shows) July 21st / September 12th + 30th: USA (3 shows) November 23rd – December 15th: USA #2 (18 shows) ←★HERE★ 2013 March 8th – 17th: USA #3 (8 shows) June 5th – 26th: Europe (16 shows) “TIMELESS FLIGHT Tour” September 26th – November 2nd: USA #4 (31 shows) The finest soundboard recordings depict an immersive experience like swimming in a microcosm of music. This is THE MOODY BLUES from 2012-2013. At the time, they were celebrating the 45th anniversary of their monumental album “DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED” with the “THE VOYAGE CONTINUES – HIGHWAY 45 Tour,” which was actively carried out mainly in the United States from the beginning to the fall of 2012. The Port Chester performance featured on this release was the fourth show of “US #2.” Timed to coincide with Thanksgiving weekend, it was a concert that kicked off the holiday season. The sound of this recording, captured at such a show, is what you might call “completely official quality.” It’s a remarkable event just to have a soundboard recording of THE MOODY BLUES, but the quality is also extraordinary. The signal was taken directly from the mixing console and sealed in as is, with all the instruments and vocals ringing out without any muddiness. What’s most wonderful is the “immersion” of the sound. Justin Hayward’s guitar and vocals float right before your eyes, John Lodge’s bass shakes you from your feet up, and the keyboards and flutes rain down upon you. That grand and fantastical soundscape fills the inside of your skull, and you experience an otherworldly sensation as if the very contours of your mind are dissolving. The enclosed sound space of the soundboard and the floating sensation like spacewalking coexist… it’s a 100% pure musical experience that is fundamentally different from the concert mood reproduction of official works. A third absolute live album that stands alongside the two official works. What is depicted on this otherworldly soundboard is a full show lavishly sprinkled with masterpieces from the progressive rock era and hit songs from after their comeback. Speaking of later live performances, there are also the official works “LOVELY TO SEE YOU: LIVE” and “DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED LIVE,” but this work has a different selection from both of them. Let’s compare and organize them here. Progressive Rock Era (12 songs) – Days of Future Past: Tuesday Afternoon / Peak Hour (★) / Nights In White Satin – Seventh Sojourn: You And Me (★*) / Isn’t Life Strange / I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band) – Others: Gypsy (★*) / The Story In Your Eyes / Higher And Higher (*) / Are You Sitting Comfortably (*) / Question / Ride My See-Saw – After Reunion (8 songs) – Voyager (Tenkai Mei): Gemini Dream (★*) / The Voice / Nervous (★) – Others: Steppin’ In A Slide Zone / Say It With Love (★) / I Know You’re Out There Somewhere / Your Wildest Dreams / The Other Side Of Life (*) *Note: “★” indicates songs from the official “LOVELY TO SEE YOU: LIVE”, and “*” indicates songs from “DAYS OF FUTURE This album includes songs not found on “PASSED LIVE.” …and so on. The setlist is built around three pillars: “DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED,” “SEVENTH SOJOURN,” and “LONG DISTANCE VOYAGER,” and features a string of classic songs from each era. Overall, the selection is somewhere between the official releases “LOVELY TO SEE YOU: LIVE” and “DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED LIVE,” but it also includes “You And Me,” “Gypsy,” and “Gemini Dream,” which are not found on either album. It truly is a third absolute live album that stands alongside the two official releases. You’ll be swallowed up by that cosmic sound world, and your whole body will melt and become one with it. This is a first-time soundboard album that offers an otherworldly experience that is simply delightful. It’s a new masterpiece with completely official-level quality, yet filled with pleasure that you can’t get from the official releases.
