This release features a complete recording of the London performance from the 2015 tour, which consisted of only seven shows. Unlike his earlier, more unrestrained improvisations, this performance thoroughly explores the “space” and “resonance” of the sound. Each phrase breathes, and the melodies are spun as if speaking to the listener. In particular, in the medium to slow sections, his unique gospel-like sound and classical structural beauty intertwine exquisitely, drawing the listener into a deep spiritual realm. Furthermore, the delicacy of his touch is the epitome of maturity. His approach, which speaks not through forceful strikes but through the “weight” of the sound, can truly be said to be a state of being unique to his mature period. The occasional bluesy feeling is also restrained, and it is impressive how it has been sublimated into a more abstract and universal emotion.
