This release captures the full 2-hour and 21-minute performance at the Osaka Festival Hall on May 7th, the opening night of their first Japan tour in three years, which also served as their 40th-anniversary tour and the release of their second album as a seven-member band, “GIANTS & MONSTERS.” The audio is a masterful mix of the stereo IEM source used by the band members on stage and a digital audience source, resulting in an IEM matrix format. The first five minutes or so use a standard audience source, but after that, the three guitars, in particular, are beautifully separated, and the sound of each part is recorded with astonishing separation and resolution. This third Japanese performance as a seven-member band featured a significantly different setlist from their previous performance in 2023, including not only new songs but also five songs from the Andy Johnson era besides “Power,” and the final song, “Keeper Of The Seven Keys,” is a special version featuring only the final chorus, making for a memorable ending to the lengthy show. This is a limited-edition memorial item for their Japan tour, recreating the entire memorable first performance in Japan with hybrid sound and soundboard quality.
