Description

“ONE HAND CLAPPING,” a rare Wings film from the VHS era, was finally released and broadcast in 2024, but has yet to be released on home video. Taking advantage of this situation, the hugely popular “ONE HAND CLAPPING DEFINITIVE EDITION” was released. Regarding this footage, the “kineco” quality, which was converted from video to film, was the sole obstacle to its release, yet for some reason, it was released in theaters in 2024, while at the same time not being released on home video. This is why “ONE HAND CLAPPING DEFINITIVE EDITION” is so popular, but it is also true that the quality is still a source of confusion for those who are not fans. Fans are accustomed to the quality of “ONE HAND CLAPPING,” but for those who are not, it is undeniable that the quality is rough. Therefore, this version has been remastered using AI based on the version broadcast in Japan. Indeed, the inherent roughness of this video has been tamed, resulting in a picture quality that looks great on today’s large-screen TVs. Therefore, I would recommend the ‘DEFINITIVE EDITION’ to hardcore fans, but for those of us who are used to the picture quality of recent releases, such as ‘BEATLES: GET BACK’ from a few years ago, and 4K remasters, this version should be easier to watch. You might even feel that they should have given the video this much of a makeover when it was released in theaters… after seeing this version. The inherent roughness of this video has been wonderfully resolved with modern technology. Furthermore, this release also fixes instances where the narration interfered with the music in several songs. It was unavoidable because the original was made in a documentary style, but in some places the commentary pushed aside the performance and Paul’s singing. For example, in “Bluebird,” Paul’s commentary comes in after the interlude, but by overlaying it with the audio released simultaneously with the video, it no longer interferes with the performance. Similarly, in the ending of “Baby Face,” where Paul’s commentary overlaps as soon as he starts singing, you can now listen to it all the way through without any interruptions. However, as it is, since this is the Japanese broadcast version, the subtitles would still be displayed even if the comments were removed. Therefore, thorough editing was carried out, replacing the video with a version without subtitles in every scene where comments would normally appear. The results of this work are particularly remarkable for “Bluebird,” which has been transformed so smoothly that you might mistake it for a version without comments or subtitles from the beginning. In this way, the image quality issues that plagued “ONE HAND CLAPPING” and the bonus track “BACKYARD” were neatly resolved with AI, and the resulting versions are now easy to watch and listen to, without being interrupted by comments. Furthermore, this release includes the introductory scenes by the current Paul at the beginning of both “ONE HAND CLAPPING” and “BACKYARD,” making it even more enjoyable! Filmed at EMI Recording Studios, London, England 26th August – 9th October 1974 This is amazing!! The inherent roughness of the video has been brilliantly resolved with modern technology (66:47) 1.
