Eric Clapton / London, UK 02.26.1993 Complete DAT Master Edition

This release features a complete 2-hour and 9-minute recording of the February 26th concert, the fifth night of a series of performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1993, taken from a DAT audience master recently released by a taper. This source is a previously unreleased recording, capturing each instrument and vocal clearly and vividly using the then-state-of-the-art DAT equipment. Clapton apparently used this series of concerts to select blues numbers for his album “From the Cradle,” and therefore included many rare blues numbers that were not featured on the later “Nothing But the Blues Tour.” Although the setlist remained the same each night, Clapton’s improvisations varied from day to night. In addition, while he employed Little Feat drummer Richie Hayward, the same as for his Japanese tour later that year, he also brought in Donald “Duck” Dunn on bass, a feature unique to this series of concerts, which is definitely worth noting. Furthermore, for the encore, in addition to Jimmie Vaughan, who served as the opening act, Buddy Guy also made a surprise appearance, and the three of them ended the night with “Sweet Home Chicago,” perfectly recreating the passionate blues night that night.
