Description
This recording uses a master recording that is hard to believe was made half a century ago. While there is some slight deterioration due to age, it is a perfect stereo recording. The quartet, consisting of Dewey Letman on tenor saxophone, Charlie Haden on bass, and Paul Motian on drums, pours their heart and soul into improvisational performances in a mystical tension. Disc 1 features a stunning piano performance recreating the album “Survivors’ Suite,” and Disc 2 features the highlight, “Fantasy of Life and Death.” The spiritual unity that cannot be reproduced in a studio recording will send shivers down your spine from the very beginning—it is truly a thrilling performance! Please note that there are some places where noise occurs. This is because the tape was recorded half a century ago, so please forgive us. Live at Postal Savings Hall, Tokyo 06/05/1975 Disc 1 1.
