This release features a 2.5-hour recording of the February 17th Buffalo, New York performance, part of the early stages of their North American tour following the release of 2005’s “The Way Up.” It utilizes a high-quality audience master recently released by a taper, and has been newly remastered in 2026. Because the original master had relatively low sound pressure, the latest remastering, pitch correction, hiss noise reduction, and cuts to remove unnatural sections between songs have resulted in excellent quality, except for the missing beginning of “LONE JACK” due to a tape change. The brilliance of their Japanese performance that same year remains intact, and this momentum continues on this European tour, resulting in an even more polished stage show that completely recreates the album “The Way Up.” The middle section is packed with classic hits, and “Farmer’s Trust,” performed by Metheny and the late Lyle Mace on the PMG, is particularly moving. Furthermore, “ARE YOU GOING WITH ME?”, which usually begins with a simple snare drum fill, starts with an exotic intro featuring Metheny’s signature Picasso guitar, and then builds up with a saxophone phrase before cascading in—a truly wonderful development. Overall, it’s a must-have item for fans, recreating Metheny’s unique sonic world, where he was constantly experimenting while also mastering a solid rhythm and accent that remains unchanged throughout the ages.
