A broadcast recording of Brian’s Massachusetts concert from the release of his second solo album, “Live Nude Guitars,” captured in high-quality stereo soundboard format, is now available in an upgraded edition with improved sound quality thanks to newly discovered sources! This recording captures a live performance at the Great Woods, an outdoor amphitheater in Mansfield, Massachusetts, from the tour following the release of his second solo album, “Live Nude Guitars,” in 1988, during the Stray Cats’ hiatus. The recording was captured in high-quality stereo soundboard format from an aircheck master of an FM broadcast! This audio was previously available on the “Nervous Breakdown” release, but this new release uses a newly discovered master for significantly improved sound quality! Furthermore, it is the first time this uncut version, including the previously omitted radio DJ announcements, is being released! While the broadcast recording itself has an excellent mix and balance, previous releases suffered from a lack of clarity in the high frequencies and unstable pitch in some areas. The newly unearthed source used in this release clearly has excellent high-frequency clarity, resulting in a remarkably clear sound quality, as if a curtain had been removed. The pitch is also flawless, and the only missing part is the first few seconds, which have been seamlessly filled in using a different master. The setlist opens with Eddie Cochran’s “Summertime Blues,” and includes a cover of another Eddie Cochran song, “Nervous Breakdown,” as well as tracks from his then-new album, “Live Nude Guitars.” In addition to Stray Cats-era numbers, it also features a rare cover of Billy Lee Riley’s “Flying Saucers Rock N Roll,” and concludes with Elvis’s “Hound Dog”—a superb recording that fans will definitely want to hear at least once!
