This release features live footage of the January 9, 1970 concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, a performance well-known to Led Zeppelin fans, using two existing professional-shot video takes to ensure the best possible quality. It is divided into three parts: “Alternate Cut,” “Single Camera Footage,” and “Official Cut Analysis.” The “Alternate Cut,” based on a standard source from the 90s, is a 41-minute version with different editing than the official release. Although the picture quality is somewhat rough, the extensive use of voiceovers results in a high level of audio quality, allowing viewers to experience the live sound vividly. The “Single Camera Footage,” as the name suggests, is 12 minutes of single-camera footage, recorded directly from one camera for each song. While the footage for each song is relatively short, it includes many valuable shots, such as a shot from behind Bonzo. And the final “Official Cut Analysis” is simply breathtaking. The comparison screen between the official take and the other two takes is clearly presented, and the 45-minute video is based on the concept of synchronizing the main and sub cameras and analyzing the shots that were used and not used on the DVD. In short, it’s a 1 hour and 40 minute video that shows how the official release edited multiple film sources, and that there are also fascinating shots in the films that weren’t used.
