The latest release in this popular series, which has consistently released rare, previously unreleased recordings, is this album featuring Wings’ early 1972 university tour and its rehearsals. Due to the era, there are few surviving recordings, and only two performances from the university tour are known to exist. This album includes the opening night performance at Nottingham University, as well as rehearsals held at the ICA in London for the tour. The main content of Disc 1 is a recording of the tour rehearsal held at the ICA studios in London on February 1, 1972. This was a rehearsal for Wings’ first tour, which was scheduled to begin a week later. Short, fragmented recordings have been available before, but the recordings included in this album are incomparably more numerous and longer than anything previously available, representing the first time these recordings have been released. The main content of Disc 2 is a recording of the opening night performance at Nottingham University on February 9, 1972. Although this recording has been known for a long time, in 2025 a source with overwhelmingly high sound quality was unearthed and uploaded to YouTube. While most previously released albums borrow from YouTube, this release features tracks from a separate, independently acquired raw source. The versions uploaded to YouTube are edited, and titles based on those versions are all included as they are. However, this release features the original, valuable raw source material, and is therefore presented unedited. In terms of both sound quality and content, it is unlikely that anything better could be found. The opening track of Disc 1, “Wild Life,” is a previously unreleased take without overdubs. The tracks at the end of each disc are also previously unreleased, taken from multi-track tapes. In addition to a raw source from the first night of the 1972 Wings University Tour at Nottingham University, this release includes previously unreleased tour rehearsal recordings, making it a surprising and exciting record of the early days of Wings for fans.
