Abba Abba/At the BBC Complete Edition Blu-Ray Version

ABBA, the iconic Swedish supergroup that has enjoyed global popularity from the 1970s to the present day, is now featured in a complete edition on two Blu-ray discs, bringing together nearly six hours of stunning footage from over 50 years of BBC broadcasting archives! This edition focuses on BBC special programs broadcast to commemorate their 50th anniversary since their first victory at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, and also includes original broadcast versions and documentaries, all presented in high-definition (HD) quality. Volume 1 begins with “ABBA at the BBC,” produced in 2013, featuring a selection of hit songs from numerous BBC broadcasts, including “Top of the Pops” since their 1974 debut. Past broadcasts are also brought back to life in high-definition with the widescreen HD footage rebroadcast in 2024. Following this is “The Original Broadcasts,” which includes the original broadcast versions. ‘ABBA at the BBC’ includes subtitles and widescreen editing, but here it is fully recorded as it was originally broadcast. Furthermore, it includes valuable unedited parts from the historic ‘Eurovision’ and BBC broadcasts that were not included, making it an even more valuable video collection. The 2024 documentary ‘When ABBA Came to Britain’ traces ABBA’s achievements in Britain chronologically, and is a must-see for fans, examining valuable early footage from before ABBA’s debut and their immense influence in Britain, with appearances by Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream and members of The Blossoms. VOL.2 is a sequel produced in 2024, ‘More ABBA at the BBC’, starting with footage from the 2022 “Voyage” virtual reunion concert held in London, and includes songs that were not included in the previous volume, as well as solos and new songs. Of particular note is the 1974 Top of the Pops performance of “So Long,” which is the first time it has been released as archival footage unearthed after 50 years, using a lost master that was never broadcast at the time. The following program, “ABBA in Switzerland,” is a rebroadcast of the 1979 BBC Christmas Special in high-definition. It is valuable footage featuring not only ABBA but also Roxy Music and Kate Bush. The final program, “The Joy of ABBA,” is also an unmissable documentary, featuring new, rare early footage and interviews, as well as interesting points such as the influence ABBA had on Elvis Costello and the Sex Pistols during the height of punk in the 70s.
