Dream Theater / Osaka, Japan 03.02.2026 Complete IEM Source Edition

This release features a full 2-hour and 47-minute recording of the March 2nd show at the Osaka Festival Hall, the fourth of five performances from the 2026 Japan tour, which finally came to fruition as part of Mike Portnoy’s “40th Anniversary Tour” since his return. The recording was captured from an in-ear monitor (IEM) used by vocalist James LaBrie at the venue that day. What’s more, there are no counts or clicks like you might expect from IEMs, except for a slight count at the beginning of each song. As it was used by a vocalist, the instrument balance is also perfectly balanced, recreating the live performance in a perfect stereo soundboard recording directly connected to the mixing console. As Mike Portnoy had announced just before the show, the setlist for tonight would be special, unlike any previous performance. It was basically structured similarly to the second day’s show at EX THEATER ROPPONGI in Tokyo. The first part was a career-spanning set that seemed to condense the 40th anniversary, with songs performed randomly as in a normal concert, but also including “Take the Time” and “Panic Attack.” The second part, “PARASOMNIA,” was limited to six songs, similar to the Budokan show, but this time the main set ended with the epic 24-minute “Octavarium.” This, along with the 19-minute “The Shadow Man Incident” played before it and the 23-minute encore “A Change of Seasons,” resulted in a triple threat of epic songs totaling over an hour, ending the show in Osaka. This structure was unique to this Osaka show. Therefore, this special set, which was the longest performance of the night, has been officially reproduced and is a must-have memorial item for fans, available only during this Japan tour.
