A rare recording has emerged from a December 1982 concert in the Netherlands, captured in high-quality stereo audience recording! The Bangees, with Robert Smith (who would later form The Cure) as their guitarist, replacing John McGough who left the band after their Madrid gig in October 1982 due to his alcohol problems, performed at the De Oosterport Theatre in Groningen, Netherlands on December 19th of the same year. This rare recording captures the band’s live performance in high-quality stereo audience recording! The sound image has depth, with extended highs and lows, and each part, including the vocals, is well-balanced, resulting in a clear, high-quality sound that can be confidently described as top-class for its time. Furthermore, pitch deviations due to the master have been carefully corrected. The recording features six songs, including “Slowdive” and “Melt!”, which were singles cut from their album “Kiss in the Dreamhouse” released shortly after, and also includes “Fireworks,” a single released in May of the same year. This is a rare live recording from the time when Robert Smith was a member of the band, as his only studio appearance was on the 1984 album “Hyena,” making it a very short-lived collaboration! Steve Severin and Robert Smith were also active in The Grove at the same time, and this killer item features their perfectly coordinated performance, including the encore, in its entirety without any cuts!
