Description
A new masterpiece has arrived in the newly unearthed soundboard series that will engrave live performances like no one has ever heard before into your brain. Two lengthy live albums that will instantly redefine the standards of the series are set to be released simultaneously! Permanently preserved in this work is the performance from “Porto Alegre on February 1, 1983”. It is a superb stereo soundboard recording that significantly breaks the previous record for the longest recording. If you’ve taken the time to read this article, you’re probably aware that a vast number of soundboard recordings are being unearthed one after another, but in reality, most of them are incomplete and full of cuts. Only a very small number are recordings that are almost complete. This work is a shocking work that is the longest in the series even among those few lengthy recordings. It is the birth of a new representative work that will make you say, “Start with this!” even among the many masterpieces! I’ve already gone off the rails. Let’s cool down and first get to the position of the show. As usual, let’s get to the position of this work by looking at the overview of the activities at the time. 1982 “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” – July 14th – August 21st: North America #1 (26 shows) ← *8 works – September 1st – 25th: North America #2 (17 shows) ← *4 works – October 7th – December 11th: North America #3 (38 shows) ← *3 works 1983 “NO PROBLEM Tour” – Date unknown “REHEARSALS 1983 SOUNDBOARD” – January 14th – February 12th: South America (15 shows) ← ★HERE★ – May 29th: US Festival appearance This is an overview of their activities during the “DIVER DOWN” era. The usual “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” accompanying the new album ended in 1982, and in 1983 they carried out the “NO PROBLEM Tour,” the only time in the band’s history they invaded South America. It ended with a historic appearance at the “US Festival.” Currently, the “NO PROBLEM Tour” from 1983 is experiencing a surge in new discoveries. Let’s take a closer look at the dates and review the collection so far. Details of “South America (“NO PROBLEM Tour”)” – January 14: Caracas (first day) * January 15: “CARACAS 1983 SOUNDBOARD” * January 16: “CARACAS 1983 SOUNDBOARD (partial)” * January 21: “SAO PAULO 1983 1ST NIGHT SOUNDBOARD” – January 22: São Paulo (second day) – January 23: São Paulo (third day) – January 26: Rio de Janeiro (first day) * January 27: “RIO DE JANEIRO 1983 2ND NIGHT SOUNDBOARD” – January 29: Belo Horizonte performance? * February 1st: Porto Alegre (first day) ←★This work★ * February 2nd: Porto Alegre (second day)? * February 5th: Uruguay performance * February 11th + 12th: Argentina (2 performances) This work, recorded at such a show, is, as mentioned above, also a new record for the longest performance. Most of the newly unearthed soundboard recordings up until now have been “one 90-minute tape (total length around 94 minutes)”, but this work was recorded on “two 90-minute tapes”. In fact, this is the fourth work to be recorded on two tapes, but this is the longest of them all. Here, let’s take a look at the four works that exceed 100 minutes and their recording times. The longest soundboard release, exceeding 100 minutes, is titled “North America #1” – 109 minutes 47 seconds: FORT WAYNE 1982 – 105 minutes 18 seconds: ROCKFORD 1982 “South America” - 106 minutes 37 seconds: RIO DE JANEIRO 1983 2ND NIGHT * 116 minutes 32 seconds: PORTO ALEGRE 1983 1ST NIGHT ←★This release★…and so on. It surpasses the previous longest release, “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD,” by about 7 minutes. It has instantly jumped to the top spot in the series. Of course, the volume of tracks is also overwhelming. The set itself is the same as the simultaneously released “RIO DE JANEIRO 1983 2ND NIGHT SOUNDBOARD,” but let’s list it again here. Flame Fuse (6 songs) – Runnin’ With the Devil / Jamie’s Cryin’ / Little Dreamer (★) / Ice Cream Man / Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love / You Really Got Me (Happy Trails) Diver Down (7 songs) – The Full Bug / Little Guitars / Where Have All the Good Times Gone! / Cathedral / Secrets / Intruder / (Oh) Pretty Woman Others (8 songs + α) – Legendary Bomber: Dance the Night Away / Somebody Get Me a Doctor / Bottoms Up! – Others: Romeo Delight / Unchained / Mean Street (★) / God Bless The Child (★★) / Everybody Wants Some!! / Heartbreak Hotel (★★) *Note: Songs marked with “★” were not included in the 1982 edition of the newly unearthed soundboard series. Tracks marked with “★★” are especially unique, as they weren’t included in the South American editions, ‘CARACAS 1983 SOUNDBOARD’ and ‘SAO PAULO 1983 1ST NIGHT SOUNDBOARD’. …And so it goes. The latter half of “Runnin’ With The Devil,” which was missing from the recording on ‘RIO DE JANEIRO 1983 2ND NIGHT’, is included completely uncut. There are very slight gaps in the middle of “Cathedral” and the guitar solo due to tape changes, but everything else is included in its entirety. This is the 20th installment of engineer “Roy’s” newly unearthed soundboard series. Among them, if you’re looking for rarity, it’s ‘REHEARSALS 1983 (Zodiac 838)’; if you’re aiming for extremely rare tracks, it’s ‘BILOXI 1982 (Zodiac 775)’ and ‘CARACAS 1983 (Zodiac 839)’; and if you want something long, it’s ‘FORT WAYNE 1982′ and this album… these five are absolute must-haves. This is the longest recording that comes closest to the dream of a full live album that has never been realized before. A superb stereo soundboard recording of the “February 1, 1983 Porto Alegre” performance. A new masterpiece that boasts the longest recording to date in the leaked soundboard series by engineer “Roy,” who has produced a large number of masterpieces. It is the definitive “NO PROBLEM Tour” work that complements the long “FORT WAYNE 1982 SOUNDBOARD,” an early work from the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour.” Ginásio do Gigantinho, Porto Alegre, Brazil 1st February 1983 Disc:1 (72:55) 1.
