Description

Introducing the latest collection of outtakes from 2012! The opening track is the unreleased “All The King’s Horses,” first premiered for VIP attendees at Paisley Park’s Celebration in June 2013. It was recorded at Paisley Park in November 2001. Claire Fisher recorded the orchestral parts in September 2002, and the song was completed in early 2003. When recorded in November 2001, the song was recorded as “All The King’s Horses.” A version with the orchestral parts also exists, though not leaked, and is titled “All The King’s Men” on the tape box. It was originally intended to be the final track on the unreleased project “Songwriter.” The lyric “All the King’s horses” comes from the Mother Goose nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty,” referring to the line, “All the king’s horses and all the king’s men / Couldn’t put Humpty together again.” Prince’s version of “The Glamorous Life” is longer than the original, and the second half is thrilling. This unreleased piano session from May 1982 features Raspberry Beret scat singing but no vocals, giving the impression of a new beginning. “Instrumental” is an interesting piano instrumental that alternates between quiet and lively, featuring phrases from Wonderful Ass. Finally, there’s a less cheesy version of “Cosmic Day,” a fan-made version with a rockish feel that’s certainly appealing. There’s also an 11-minute long version of “Strange Relationship,” longer than the 1987 Shep Pettibone Club Mix; a groovy fan-made mix of “The Ballad of Dorothy Parker” with a few effects; and “Love 89,” a highly polished AI-generated version of “Love 89” offered to Patti LaBelle, though no Prince version exists. “Dance With the Devil” is the cleanest version yet. It’s the version featured in the “Willing & Able” music video, but with a more stereo-like horn sound. Finally, there’s a mix of “The Most Beautiful U in the World” featuring Prince and Mayte singing a duet; and a longer version of “Boyfriend.” 1. All The Kings Horses 6:21 2.
