Description
Last year’s release, “KISSTORY VOLUME ONE,” featured footage from their debut through their mid-’70s success. This release is a direct sequel. This disc compiles rare footage from 1976, the band’s historic peak, as they released “DESTROYER” and “ROCK AND ROLL OVER.” The eight videos are arranged chronologically. Let’s take a look at each one individually. DESTROYER Era (6 Videos) Chapter 1-2 “April 21, 1976 Montreal Performance” begins with the seventh performance of the “DESTROYER Tour” in Montreal. This footage was shot with the band’s permission during their first Canadian tour. While there’s no audio during the opening scenes of the Montreal cityscape and the pre-show venue, rest assured that this isn’t a malfunction or error. Of course, audio is available once the show begins (be careful of the volume!). You’ll see stunning early performances of “Flaming Youth” and “God of Thunder.” Chapter 3-7, “June 27, 1976 Newberg Rehearsal,” follows with a single-camera pro shot of a rehearsal about two months later. This rehearsal was for the second half of the North American leg of the “DESTROYER Tour,” which returned from a European tour. We witness a realistic rehearsal, complete with stage sets, costumes, and pyrotechnics. Chapter 8-10, “July 10, 1976 Roosevelt Performance,” and Chapter 11, “August 11, 1976 Fort Worth Performance,” follow with a recently discovered color 8mm film. While vintage, the visuals are stunning, digitized directly from the master reels, capturing the venue’s 1976 vibe and the razor-sharp live performance. Chapter 12, “August 14, 1976 Peaches Records & Tapes,” features footage of an in-store event at the Atlanta branch of the famous record shop, Peaches Records and Tapes. While photos have been available for some time, here you can see the entire event in video. Chapter 13: “September 3, 1976 Richfield Coliseum Concert” This is a classic piece of footage we’ve previously introduced. This 8mm film was shot from the stands directly next to the stage, looking down. Not only does it offer a digest of the band’s peak concerts, but the must-see is the “God of Thunder” Frankenstein Machine, the only surviving working video of it. ROCK AND ROLL OVER Era (2 versions) Chapter 14: “RARO TV Commercial” This is where we move on to the “ROCK AND ROLL OVER” era. First up is the album’s classic TV commercial, a treasured piece of stunning visual beauty digitized directly from the master tape. Chapters 15-18: “October 29, 1976 Paul Lynde Halloween Special” The final chapter is the legendary 1976 TV show, “Paul Lynde Halloween Special.” This Halloween-themed special features excerpts of KISS’s performances within a roughly one-hour slot. This stunning, fully-officially mastered set features a comedy routine with a witch and a mime performance in a spooky mansion setting, creating a historic masterpiece that anticipates the cult film “KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK.” This collection of eight treasured footage spans 1 hour and 20 minutes. This video masterpiece chronicles the “peak of 1976” with the highest quality updated masters provided by researchers. A direct sequel to the smash-hit “KISSTORY VOLUME ONE 1974-1976,” this collection includes rare footage from the “DESTROYER” and “ROCK AND ROLL OVER” eras. It also features rare TV appearances, period-revealing album commercials, newly unearthed 8mm footage, and more.
