Description

This 45-minute recording, taken from a recently unearthed broadcast soundboard master, captures the January show at the Agora in Cleveland, a trio performance from a short-lived 1977 North American club tour. The trio’s powerhouse presence is enhanced by Alfons Mousone’s drumming, who was still with the band, and Miroslav Vitous, who had recently left Weather, as well as guest appearances by Steve Marcus on soprano saxophone. While the album begins quietly as an acoustic duo between Coryell and Vitous, Coryell’s violin-like guitar sounds are intertwined with Mousone’s elaborate drumming, evolving into a freaky, avant-garde, and aggressive performance reminiscent of Mahavishnu and Brand X. A must-listen for jazz-rock fans, this trio’s live recordings are rarely available, so be sure to check them out. Recorded at The Agora, Cleveland, OH, USA, January, 1977 : Soundboard Recording 1.
