This nearly complete recording of Zawinul Syndicate’s November 24, 1991 appearance at New York’s Blue Note Jazz Club was taken from a recent taper-released, high-quality audience master recording. The two shows, held on one day, total 2 hours and 45 minutes. The band’s world music leanings, particularly those of African music, which Weather also pursued, are further developed into a sound unique to Joe Zawinul’s multinational musical unit. While the album primarily features Weather Report classics and tracks from the two previous Syndicate albums, it’s also worth checking out the unreleased tracks from “Lost Tribes.” Incidentally, the two shows feature completely different sets, allowing for a truly relaxing jazz club atmosphere.
