Description
This 1 hour and 49 minute video captures the May 28th concert, the ninth show of the band’s 2009 short UK tour at London’s Royal Albert Hall, captured in excellent audience shot footage recently released by a recording owner. Shot from the balcony seats on the third floor in front of the stage, this footage captures the night’s action, albeit with some blur and occasional glimpses of the audience. Except for a missing portion of the opening, the footage is completely free of obstructions and utilizes extensive zoom. The band also toured Japan in February of the same year, with a total of 11 shows, including a highly anticipated two-day joint performance with Jeff Beck at Saitama Super Arena. The setlist is significantly different from the original, with Steve Gadd also playing on drums. The set list in particular starts with a surprise opening with “Going Down Slow,” and also includes “Anything For Your Love,” which hasn’t been played since 1992, Big Maceo’s blues number “Anytime For You,” and “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” which was an encore on the 2003 tour. It’s unusual to see them perform a sitting set in the middle of the set, but this is a completely different stage from the Japan performance three months ago. Also, be sure to check out Doyle Bramhall II’s appearance in the final three songs, where he engages in a heated guitar battle with Clapton. Additionally, the audio part of this title is synchronized with a separately recorded digital audience source, making it a must-see for fans as it’s a highly-specialized masterpiece.
