This recording features a duo performance by John McLaughlin and Chick Corea. They were close friends during Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew days, and were key players in driving the fusion scene of the 1970s as the Mahavishnu Orchestra and Return to Forever, respectively. They also performed together as the Five Piece Band after 2000, but the duo style is surprisingly rare. This is an audience recording of this rare live performance. While the sound quality is generally high, the “whoosh!” and “whoosh” sounds are quite noisy, making it impossible to hear the intervals between songs. Therefore, the intervals between songs were cut. This label often edits audience recordings, and this recording is remarkably effective.
