Description
In 2008, Ace Frehley completed his first solo album in 19 years and was making a full-scale comeback. Here’s a superb video that lets you witness his comeback. This work was shot at the “April 4, 2008 New York Performance.” This is multi-camera footage with two cameras and a soundboard. Normally, we’d call it a “pro shot” or “audience shot,” but this work isn’t so simple. First of all, this work is multi-camera. However, unlike a typical multi-camera pro shot, the cameraman isn’t onstage shooting. Instead, it’s filmed from the back of the venue, with only two or three cameras. Moreover, all of them are slightly to the right, with the same front and angle. The difference is the zoom. One camera captures the entire stage from a distance, while the others zoom in on Ace and each member. In other words, the video feels like switching between “panorama/zoom” or “zoom on Ace/zoom on other members” from the same angle. While this alone would be considered a multi-camera audience shot, it’s hard to argue that it is. Each camera offers a different sense of distance, yet there are no obstructions, let alone any audience members. Moreover, the stability is incredible. While the long-distance camera feels slightly tripod-like and jerky, the zoom camera is incredibly stable. In any case, there’s no camera shake, and the view is easy enough to see, even away from the audience. And the finishing touch is the sound. This is also a very vivid, yet extremely thick, soundboard. While at first glance it looks like an audience shot, it’s packed with elements that are impossible to capture in an audience video, such as the stunning views of a venue setup camera, multi-camera switching, and soundboard audio. Without fear of misunderstanding, this video should be called a “two-camera pro shot.” Experience the precious “ROCKET RIDE Tour” in its entirety. The full show of the “ROCKET RIDE Tour,” which was revived, is depicted with such beautiful visuals. Globally, “ANOMALY” was the signal for their comeback, but in 2008 they were touring in earnest while also producing the album. First, let’s take a look at their activities at the time and examine the position of this album. 2007 October 29th + 31st: North America #1 (2 shows) December 27th-31st: North America #2 (4 shows) 2008 February 20th-April 4th: North America #3 (32 shows) ←★Here★ April 10th + 11th: UK (2 shows) May 2nd-22nd: North America #3 (14 shows) June 6th-14th: Europe #1 (5 shows) July 13th: Rocklahoma appearance 2009 September 12th: Sunset Strip Festival appearance (“ANOMALY” released on September 15th) October 4th-November 13th: North America #4 (10 shows) November 29th-December 17th: Europe #2 (14 shows) … and so on.
