Description
Richard Galliano, winner of the World Accordion Cap Competition in Spain and France, was the first to fuse tango and jazz on the accordion, and has achieved numerous accomplishments, including collaborations with Astor Piazzolla and Yehuda Oppenheimer. This two-disc set features two exceptional duo performances, coupled on soundboards: a rare live performance at Jazz à Bienne in France on July 12, 1999, and a performance at the Berlin Jazz Festival at the Berliner Philharmonie in Germany from November 4-7, 2004. This organic, jazz-classical duo sound, featuring Galliano and Portal’s captivating improvisations, is a testament to their commitment to never reversing their performances before the show. This performance, featuring Galliano’s beautiful, heartbreaking accordion sounds and melodies, along with Portal’s virtuoso clarinet, saxophone, and even double bandoneon (amazing!), is a must-listen for all music fans, from jazz and classical to revolutionary tango that carries on Piazzolla’s legacy!
