Description
This 1 hour 56 minute recording captures the full performance of the legendary quartet, consisting of Chick Corea, Bob Berg, Eddie Gomez, and Sdeev Gadd, at the June 27, 1992, Jazz Festival in Warsaw, Poland, recorded on a broadcast stereo soundboard with the latest mastering in 2025. By correcting slight hiss and increasing output, the entire recording is of near-official quality. This tour, which featured extensive coverage of the classic “Three Quartets” album, is especially popular among fans. This recording features the same lineup as on the album, with the exception of the late Bob Berg, recreating the album’s “Suite” over a decade later. In particular, the classic “Waltz For Dave” features Chick’s familiar solo piano, Berg’s lustrous saxophone tone, and the powerful rhythm section of E. Gomez and S. Gadd, reminiscent of the Gadd Gang, all organically intertwined, making these few minutes alone enough to have you swooning. The four musicians, who know each other so well, exchange “wordless” interplay throughout the album, and their high-energy performance, which is far removed from businesslike, predictable performances, make this a must-listen document that captures the essence of modern jazz.
