This work permanently preserves the “July 22, 1981 New York City performance.” It is a stereo soundboard recording recorded at the famous venue, the Palladium. Speaking of 1981 soundboards, the masterpieces “DEFINITIVE CHICAGO 1981” and “COMPLETE HAMMERSMITH 1981: SOUNDBOARD” reign as the two greatest peaks, but this work is the final installment following them. First, let’s confirm the relative positions of each from an overview of their activities at the time. At that time, they were in the midst of a serious invasion of the United States. For that reason, numerous radio broadcasts were realized, and it became the largest soundboard production period in the history of JUDAS PRIEST. Among them, the three works mentioned above were completely official in terms of both length and quality, namely the soundboard trilogy mentioned at the beginning (note that the detailed soundboards other than the trilogy can be found in “THE BLITZ COLLECTION 1981”). Such Palladium performances are also known for being broadcast on FM, and are a staple among the classics that have produced numerous pre-existing works. This work is the latest and highest peak update. Previously, the best was our “DEFINITIVE BLITZ 1981” version, but this work is different from the source. Previously, it was digitized from the broadcast master, but this work is not even a master. It is a digital master leaked from the original source. The sound is dynamic and natural. Previously, masters had been pushed to the peak of sound pressure, but this new master is so beautiful and clear that there is no need for that. There is no trace of sound pressure, and the dynamic range remains wide, making it very wide. The fine details are beautifully drawn, and there are no traces of compression that would soil the sound. Only four songs were used in the official box “50 HEAVY METAL YEARS OF MUSIC,” but this work is even better. The longest soundboard album in the trilogy, the longest sound beyond the official sound, is the longest full show among the three major soundboards. Let’s organize it by comparing them here. Of course, this release is 100% Palladium performance soundboard footage, and it’s the longest version, including MC recordings that were cut from some masters. The success of the full-scale “North American” leg of the “WORLD WIDE BLITZ Tour” is said to be the reason why their follow-up album, “Wings of Vengeance,” became such a huge hit upon its release. This release permanently preserves one of the most important live performances in Priest’s history. It’s the longest of the soundboard trilogy, the Palladium performance, with the highest quality sound. This is a stereo soundboard recording of the “July 22, 1981 New York performance.” This is the highest-quality updated version of the leaked digital master by GRAF ZEPPELIN, surpassing the conventional broadcast master. It offers a wider dynamic range and a wider, more natural sound than ever before.
