Two precious live recordings from 1974, the time of the release of the album “Introducing The Eleventh House With Larry Coryell,” which can be said to be the hardest jazz rock period in Coryell’s career, are included. Both are broadcast masters from that time, and have been newly mastered in 2025. Disc 1 is a live performance in Rochester, New York on February 23rd, and as Coryell gathered members with McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu in mind and produced the album, it is a completely hard jazz/rock, and Coryell plays as if he is a heavy-gauge rugged jazz guitarist who is absorbed in loud hard rock throughout the entire album. In the second half, four additional songs are recorded from the Montreux Jazz Festival held in Switzerland on July 5th. Incidentally, only the first trumpet player Randy Brecker plays in Rochester, and then Michael Lawrence, who replaced Randy, plays afterwards. Furthermore, Disc 2 was recorded on April 5th at the Bottom Line in New York, where Coryell’s powerful guitar is explosive along with the crazy rhythm section, and the powerful guitar is at full throttle with super-fast picking, solos using wah, and backing using phase shifter effects. Also, Alfonso’s amazing drumming is a highlight, and the entire album is a total of 2 hours and 23 minutes, which is definitely recommended for jazz/rock fans of Mahavishnu, Brand X, and Isotope.
