This is a recording of a show at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, California on April 24th, just after the 4-day Fillmore West in April 1970, recorded on a good audience tape that still exists, with the latest remastering in 2025. Although the recording time is short at just under 20 minutes and far from a full live performance, the recordings from this period were limited, so this is an upgraded version of the recordings that are famous among enthusiastic fans from the past. And as a bonus, the second half includes an edited version of “CALL IT ANYTHING” from the legendary Isle of Wight Festival on August 29th of the same year. Although the complete version has been circulating in recent years, this edited version is said to be the original, because Teo Macero edited it to make it into a proper song, and this version is valuable because Miles’ live recordings at the time were edited by Teo Macero and created as new songs. By the way, if you listen to the complete version of the Isle of Wight live performance, you will find that it is completely different from this “CALL IT ANYTHING”, as it only features “DIRECTIONS”, “BITCHES BREW”, and “SPANISH KEY”, making it a must-listen for fans, as it is 34 minutes in total.
