Description

We will deliver a sound source from the heyday of Rory Gallagher, the “fiery blues guitarist” born in Ireland, and what can be said to be his best performance. From the hard-to-obtain BBC “SPECTACULAR” broadcast master, we rerecorded it from scratch using high-spec playback equipment, and even the slightest scratches and noises were digitally erased. Furthermore, through precise remastering, we have raised the treble range and optimally adjusted the bass range, greatly improving the sound quality without sacrificing the deep sound image unique to the analog master. Rather than dropping the master, Rory’s best live sound source is revived with quality higher than the original. Disc 1 contains the performance at London’s Hippodrome on February 1, 1973, and Disc 2 contains the live performance at the same venue on June 20, 1974 with a perfect stereo sound board. The members are the same for both performances. These four members were in their prime when they released the famous studio album “TATTOO” and the famous live album “IRISH TOUR ‘74”. It is thought that the 1973 performance was to promote his third solo album “BLUEPRINT”, and the 1974 performance was to promote his fourth album “TATTOO”. Since it is a 2CD recording, of course there are many numbers that could not be heard on the official live version, and on Disc 1, all songs except Walk On Hot Coals are live takes that can only be heard here. Also, Messin’ With The Kid and Bullfrog Blues recorded on Disc 2 have different band members than the take of the same song recorded on the official live album “LIVE IN EUROPE”, making the performance much more powerful. Please note that. The famous song Tattoo’d Lady is also different from “IRISH TOUR ’74”, and is a tremendous take with an added intro. Many blues covers are also featured, giving a glimpse of Rory’s deep roots. Bullfrog Blues, which is included on both discs 1 and 2, is a standard rock’n’roll number that is encore at concerts, where you can enjoy the members’ solo performances, but the playing nuances and arrangements are different in both years, so you can enjoy each one. It is no exaggeration to say that this edition covers Rory’s best performances in the early 70’s, and is a must-have item for all Rory fans. Of course, Rory fans want to listen to Rory Gallagher, and what kind of guitarist was Rory Gallagher? This is a work that is definitely recommended for those who say so. If you listen to this album, I think you will feel something about this “heat”, this “single-mindedness”, and this “era”. A masterpiece live album that could be officially released as is.
