Richard Thompson/UK Acoustic Live 2004-2009

This six-disc set is a must-have for fans, featuring Richard Thompson’s acoustic live performances in the UK in 2007 and 2004, each recorded in full for each year, starting with his latest performance in 2009. All three performances were recorded by the same person’s taper, and contain valuable sound sources that have never been available among traders before. All were recorded with the highest level of sound quality, making this a very excellent set. The Milton Keynes performance on January 25, 2009, recorded on discs 1 and 2, is a planned live performance titled “1000 Years of Popular Music,” which Richard has been working on in recent years, and will feature classical trad folk performances, mainly featuring numbers from the album, along with two female vocalists, Debra Dobkin (percussion) and Judith Owen (keyboards). The last performance is a Beatles cover medley. Discs 3 & 4 include the complete performance at Tixbury on August 2, 2007, when “SWEET WARRIOR” was released. Julian Dawson guested on the last three songs of the 2007 live performance. Discs 5 & 6 include the complete performance at Hertfordshire on May 22, 2004, when “THE OLD KIT BAG” was released. Both performances feature deep vocals and skilled acoustic guitar performances. This is a fulfilling set that is irresistible to enthusiasts and cannot be beat. Fans will enjoy a blissful time.
