Praying Mantis, Lionheart Praying Mantis, Lionheart/Osaka, Japan 2017

The live performance of the reunited LIONHEART and PRAYING MANTIS, who made a miraculous coupling visit to Japan in 2017, at Umeda Club Quattro in Osaka on June 30th, was recorded in complete with soundboard-level digital audience recording. First up was LIONHEART, who featured their comeback album “SECOND NATURE” after 33 years, set five songs from “HOT TONIGHT”, and even a surprise performance of McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP’s “Anytime”, for a total of 67 minutes. PRAYING MANTIS had been announced to play a classic set in advance, and from the start of the show they performed “Captured City”, “Praying Mantis” and “Turn The Tables”, and performed six of the nine songs from “TIME TELLS NO LIES”, with no songs from the 90s or later in the main set. And for the encore, Dennis Stratton and Steve Mann from LIONHEART joined in the session, and although the main set was filled with the “NWOBHM era”, they also played “A Cry For The New World” from the Dennis era, and ended with two Maiden songs, “Phantom Of The Opera” and “Running Free”, for a total of 88 minutes.
