Description
This is the 1970 version of the BBC SESSION broadcast on the radio station “KSJO” in San Jose, California in the 1970s, recorded exactly as it was on the air at the time. There is scratch noise throughout, so there is no doubt that the radio station is playing a BBC transcription, but the point is that they are also doing the original pseudo-stereo processing at this stage. The texture is natural and warm, and you can enjoy a classical sound that is fundamentally different in taste from the ear-piercing clear sound of radio show sound sources from the 1980s to the present day. The roughness of the introduction by the KSJO DJ over the cheers at the beginning of “If” and “Atom Heart Mother” and John Peel’s narration makes it sound fresh. “BBC 1970” is a familiar song to enthusiasts, but this version, which can be heard in the original atmosphere, will have an irreplaceable charm. This bonus disc includes a relatively rare 1996 German BFBS air check as one of the “modern” samples. This has a clear, sharp, familiar sound. The tape is a Maxell 110-minute tape, but the high-frequency texture, which makes you feel the limits of the cassette range, gives it a 90s FM air check feel, and you can enjoy the charm of the original sound. This one features Brain Damage in the outro of the program. The main track is the overwhelmingly vintage KSJO 70’s Broadcast, but please enjoy this 1996 broadcast version for comparison. The sound quality is completely different. Live at the BBC Paris Cinema, London, UK 16th July 1970 Broadcast in the 70’s by KSJO radio station in San Jose (52:53) 1. John Peel Intro. 2. The Embryo 3.
