Paul McCartney/Mexico 11.8.2024 Soundcheck Jewel Version

Paul’s latest Monterrey performance has just been released, but the sound check that took place before the performance was also filmed by VIP ticket attendees. The public sound check for VIP tickets this time was quite far from the stage (bitter smile). On the other hand, the fact that there were no galleries other than VIP ticket attendees was a blessing, so we could see the entire vast arena, and yet the close-up shots on the screen made it easier to see than expected. The sound check started with a slow, minor-key jam. At the end of the jam, Paul and drummer Abe finished with a comfortable look on their faces, and the screen was filmed nicely. Of course, the repertoire they performed was basically just songs for the sound check. However, since the famous songs continued, the cheerful Mexicans were excited to sing songs like “Coming Up” and “All My Loving,” but when the Little Richard cover song “Miss Ann” started, the crowd went quiet like a stone was thrown into the water, which made me laugh out loud. Also, since this venue is the home of the local soccer team, CF Monterrey, the horn members were seen wearing the uniforms of the local soccer team instead of their own clothes for the sound check, which was a nice touch. The sound check gets exciting again with “Mrs. Vandebilt”, but unfortunately the filming stops and switches to a video of another person (probably a friend) and the video continues. The filming ends when “Lady Madonna” starts, which signals the end of the sound check, but I’m grateful that they still recorded the best parts of the sound check itself. Paul, who looks like an 82-year-old grandfather in his loose sweatshirt, is a smile-inducing sight, and this gorgeous DVD features the peaceful scenery unique to before the show and the rare repertoire unique to sound checks, played by Paul and others on stage with great quality image quality.
