Description

Discover the masters of Mike Millard, who has produced a large number of historic live albums. Finally, the best recording known as a masterpiece in his collection is finally here. The masterpiece was recorded at “September 26, 1977 Long Beach Performance”. It is a legendary audience recording that vacuum-packed the scene. If you have been paying attention to this article, you will be aware of the recent Mirrored Master excavation project, and this work is the latest in that project. There are some appearances for the first time like QUEEN and FLEETWOOD MC, but this is not the case, and the recording itself is a masterpiece that has been known for a long time (also familiar from “HAIL TO MIKE”). This is the upgrade version. Although such a master sound is the key, the show is also important. After all, “GOING FOR THE ONE TOUR” has a few songs left as part of “YESSHOWS”, but other than that, there is no official live work or full soundboard, so in order to get a complete view of the show, you have to rely on audience recordings. There isn’t. That is why the competition for high quality sound is fierce, and this work stands at the top of the competition. First of all, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check the show’s position. [“Ultimate” released on July 15th]・July 30th – September 3rd: North America #1 (32 performances)・September 17th – October 9th: North America #2 (21 performances) ←★Here★・October 24th – November 8th: UK (12 performances) ・November 11th – December 6th: Europe (22 performances) This is the overall picture of “GOING FOR THE ONE TOUR 1977”. Rick Wakeman returns and conducts a large-scale world tour with the “Golden Five”. The Long Beach performance of this work was the 9th concert of “North America #2”. This work recorded at such a show is truly a legendary masterpiece. The previous edition “HAIL TO MIKE” was also a touch with the DAT copy from the master, but this work is even longer. The opening part, “Phoenix,” also starts 6 seconds before the performance, and after “Roundabout,” it is 32 seconds longer. Furthermore, there are many parts between several songs that could not be heard before, such as between “Close To The Edge” and “Wonderous Story.” Of course, such length is only “proof of mastery.” What is truly moving is the master sound that runs through the entire story. If you experienced the previous edition “HAIL TO MIKE”, I think you felt that it was a super-excellent song that “maybe it is indeed a master”, but this work is a genuine master. In comparison, although “HAIL TO MIKE” was extremely high quality, noise reduction was strongly applied, and it was a “produced high quality sound”. This work has no trace of that, yet it is of a higher quality than the same. That’s why there is a person playing the five members of YES in front of him and spinning the tape… It is an overwhelming natural sound with such a presence level. I’m sorry if the explanation doesn’t make sense to those who don’t know about “HAIL TO MIKE.” However, for those who are experiencing it for the first time, all I can say is that it is “excellent.” To begin with, Millard was also a big fan of YES, and is said to have recorded them 12 times. Each is said to be historic, but the 1977 Long Beach recording of this work is considered the highest peak among them. It is a transcendent recording that can be called Millard’s masterpiece, just like LED ZEPPELIN’s “LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE”, and it is the original master sound. The miracle of such a recording depicts a full show of the valuable “GOING FOR THE ONE TOUR”. Let’s organize the contents here. Classics (5 songs), Third Album: I’ve Seen All Good People/Starship Trooper, Fragile: Roundabout, Crisis: Close To The Edge/And You And I Ultimate (5 songs), Parallels/Wonderous Stories/Turn Of The Century/Going For The One/Awaken Others (3 songs)・Colours Of The Rainbow/Tour Song/Flight Jam…and so on. While focusing on the standard classics, the repertoire of the masterpiece “Ultimate” is also extensive. “Turn Of The Century” and “Awaken”, which were not included in “YESSHOWS”, will also be performed. In particular, “Turn Of The Century” is a masterpiece that was sealed for nearly 20 years after this tour until “KEYS TO ASCENSION”. You can enjoy it with the band potential of the 70s. And, even more valuable are Dusty Springfield’s cover “Colours Of The Rainbow”, the local anthem “Tour Song”, and “Flight Jam”. All of them are small introductory songs to the next song, but these numbers make the successive masterpieces such as “Turn Of The Century,” “And You And I,” and “Awaken” even more fantastical and dramatic. The best part of a full live album is that you can fully enjoy the “aesthetics of flow” with the finest sound. “GOING FOR THE ONE TOUR” is different from 1972/1973, which was all about masterpieces, and even the 10th anniversary tour, which even included a medley. This is a super masterpiece of a live album where you can experience a full show that cannot be experienced with official works or soundboards with the master sound of the legendary taper. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a masterpiece that doesn’t even include YESSHOWS and is the most important work of the Wakeman era. Even if you are not interested in recording history or taper, you will realize that this music and sound is a rock treasure. It is an ultimate live album that has the same value as the masterpiece “Ultimate”. Live at Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA. USA 26th September 1977 TRULY PERFECT SOUND(UPGRADE) Disc 1 (62:10) 1.
