Description

From WHITESNAKE’s first full-fledged American tour in the fall of 1980 after the release of “READY AN’ WILLING”, the Boston, Massachusetts performance on October 11th was based on an ultra-high quality audience source with outstanding freshness and clarity. The release has been decided! After releasing “LOVEHUNTER” in 1979, WHITESNAKE, which brought together three former DEEP PURPLE members, David Coverdale, Jon Lord, and Ian Paice, not only improved the band’s playing ability but also their name value. , established its popularity not only in England but also in Europe and Japan. The title of the former DEEP PURPLE is particularly important in the United States, and the “READY AN’ WILLING” tour produced with this lineup will realize their long-awaited entry into the United States (albeit in the form of a support act for JETHRO TULL). After finishing production of their next album “COME AN’ GET IT” and performing at the summer’s big stage “Reading Festival”, the band will perform at Salisbury, Maryland on October 4th and continue until mid-November. I did a circuit all over America. In this work, the 6th performance, Boston’s “Boston Garden” performance, is digitized directly from the cassette master provided by the recorder. You can enjoy the live performance with an excellent live recording that would normally be released. The clear outlook and natural sound spread are truly master quality. The audience’s excitement at the band’s appearance is vividly and realistically captured, allowing listeners to enjoy the ultimate sense of realism immediately after playing the disc. Of course, the feature of this recording is not only the sense of presence. It seems that the taper was close to the stage, and the performance is recorded with an exceptionally direct feeling and excellent balance. The scene where Coverdale shouts “Come on Boston!” at the beginning of the opening song “Come On” and the powerful performance will make fans very happy! The band’s excitement was extremely high, and their energetic performance was a great listen. The moving performance that can be heard in the second song “Sweet Talker” and the powerful play in “Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues” (Pace’s drumming is especially wonderful!) are evidence of the band’s remarkable momentum. The highlight of the live performance, “Lovehunter,” featured Mickey Moody performing a unique country-flavored solo. Pace is also involved here and you can listen to a wonderful jam. It’s not just a push, but an exquisite “pull” that was unique to WHITESNAKE at the time. The delicate touch of the intro, the irresistible taste of the blues that oozes throughout the song, “Ain’t Gonna Cry No More”, and the wonderfulness of “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City” are truly “Classic Snake” That makes me groan. “Belgian Tom’s Hat Trick”, in which Bernie Marsden, Mickey, John, Pace, Neil Murray and others mix together and listen to exquisite performances, is a take on this recording as well. The climax of the live performance is “Fool For Your Loving”! From the introduction of the members at the beginning of the song by Coverdale, the performance that seems to flow all at once is the coolest (Taper seems to have dropped the recording microphone at around 0:50, but recovers quickly. Also, at 3:20, the tape is reversed and There are some cuts that you might think of, but they don’t have a big impact). Due to the constraints of being the opening act for JETHRO TULL, the performance time is just under 50 minutes without an encore, but the content of the condensed live performance is extremely passionate and rich. Furthermore, the sound quality directly derived from the original master is first-class, including the freshness of the material, clearness, and crisp punch. It is a high-quality recording that is acceptable even if it is made into a press CD! Live at Boston Garden, Boston, MA. USA 11th October 1980 TRULY PERFECT SOUND 1. Come On 2. Sweet Talker 3.
