Description

In 2001, Silver Mountain, a neo-classical band with the Johansson Brothers and released a reunion album “BREAKIN’CHAIN” but had not heard anything since, suddenly made a comeback in 2010. A complete recording of the one-off concert held in Sweden on July 4th, with a high quality audience recording unique to a small outdoor venue. Although the Johansson Brothers are not participating, members include Jonas & Parr, members from the late 1970s who will probably be present only on this day, Morgan & Ingmar, Christer & Martin from UNIVERS, and ROSE & CHAMPAGNE” Erik, former Yngwie, Talisman’s Mazzo Lausson, Jonas’s younger sister Katrin, and others will be in and out of the show in a special arrangement depending on the song, making it a show that sums up their history. Jonas’s guitar playing remains stable and expressive, and the guitar instrumental “Skval” is particularly moving with its beautiful yet rustic melody that directly expresses Scandinavian melancholy. There’s also the famous ballad “Handled Roughly,” which features Jonas’ typical minor-toned melody and guitar solo, and Jonas’s MC that mourns the late Ronnie, which is the origin of their band’s name. “Man On The Silver Mountain” by Rainbow. “King Of The Sea” has a solo that features the riff of “Smoke On The Water” and you can feel Ritchie’s influence directly, “Always Play” has a wonderful crying play at the end, and the encore is Purple’s “Strange Kind Of Woman”. Following that, the impressive live came to a close with a cover of Queen’s “The Show Must Go On”, which featured all the members together.
