Shocking new discovery!! The original cassette of the legendary LP that testifies to the Pistols right after Sid Vicious joined the band is now available for the first time. What was recorded in the legendary master was “Halmstad performance on July 15, 1977”. This is a historic, super-excellent audience recording that tells the story of the only Scandinavian tour in the 1970s. The recording of this show has been known since the analog era, and LP items such as “TOUR OF SCANDINAVIA” and “SWEDEN SEX PISTOLS” have been praised as masterpieces and classics. These titles are made by Kinney. Some of you may remember the blue monochrome printed jacket. Of course, this work is not based on that LP. This time, the original cassette has been newly discovered. We were able to digitize it directly. The biggest point of this work is in such an original sound, but first of all it is the position of the show. First, let’s take a look back at the progress we’ve made since 1977, when “Do whatever you want!!” started a revolution. ・January 6th + 7th: Netherlands (2 performances) ・March 21st: London performance (with Sid Vicious) ・April 3rd + June 7th: London (2 performances) ・July 13th-28th : Scandinavia (12 performances) ←★Coco★・August 19th – September 1st: UK #1 (6 performances) 《“Katte Shiyagare!!” released on October 28th》 ・December 5th – 11th: Netherlands (7 performances) December 16th-25th: UK #2 (8 performances) This is the schedule for 1977. The Pistols, with Sid in attendance, held two warm-up performances in London. After that, we started touring from Northern Europe. The Halmstad performance of this work is the third concert of such a “Nordic” tour. Speaking of this “Nordic” tour, Trondheim performances (July 21st) and Stockholm performances (July 28th) have now been officialized, but this work is even earlier. It was the 5th performance since joining SID. As mentioned above, the Kinney LP at this show has attracted the envy of collectors all over the world, and this work is its original cassette. Although it is recorded for about 3 seconds after the end of the performance, it is only evidence of the origin. The most important thing is the fresh sound of Ultimate Gene. The Kinney LP is great even if you listen to it now as it is a historical masterpiece, but this work goes even further. The sharpness of the edges and the vibe of the sound are delicate, and there is no distortion and it is natural, right down to the attack of each drum stroke. It’s so fresh that the atmosphere at the scene seems to flow straight out of the speakers. And I’m happy because it’s the legendary Halmstad. Judging from the remaining photos, the venue was a slightly larger studio (perhaps about the size of a conference room at a community center) rather than a concert hall. The sound feels more like a closed room and close contact than in a club, and it’s intensely close and on. That’s what gives you such a strong feeling of being “in front of me” as if you were sitting in the studio rehearsal. And it’s not rehearsal. Although the recording position is not transmitted, you can feel the Pistols at a distance where you can reach out and snatch Johnny Rotton’s microphone stand while receiving the enthusiasm of the packed audience on your back. Although it is such a powerful recording, it never becomes a roaring sound. Although it is a close contact that goes beyond the dimension of whether it is a sound board or not, it is far more realistic than a sound board…It is a piece that raises the feeling of that miraculous recording to the ultimate level. A 70’s Pistols show that explodes with that sound… This can be called the ultimate rock experience. From the beginning, they released their debut single “Anarchy In The U.K.” with the B-side song “I Wanna Be Me,” and after that, they just continued to rush through the repertoire of “Katte Nishiyagare!!”. Although it is a typical set at the time, the extremely primitive mood explodes as it is the fifth performance in Scandinavia for the first time. The ferocious rock that you would be afraid to dismiss with casual words like “a sense of history” and “initial impulse” comes out with an ultra-exquisite, intimate sound. Having said that, I have no choice but to call it “historic.” This was the Pistols’ 5th stage, which exploded after Sid joined. This is a historical CD that permanently preserves Kinney’s original cassette, vacuum-packed from the scene.
