Description

After the band’s first visit to Japan in 1973, they released “Lotus” in June of the following year, which was a recording of the live performance. The band’s 1974 Japan tour, which could be called a triumphant return performance, was held with the new album “Borboletta” released in October of the same year. This is an audience recording of the performance at Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium on December 3rd. While following the image of their first visit to Japan, the set list, which is made up of songs with more complex arrangements and numbers from the new album, is colored with strong rhythms and Santana’s overflowing improvisations, and the gentle sound reminiscent of the image of the new album and the aggressive sound of the previous year are skillfully combined to create a space with even more depth. There are several gaps due to tape changes, and there is noise due to tape deterioration at the beginning of “Soul Sacrifice”, but the recording is at a good level for this period, and it is a valuable title that recorded the first appearance performance from the master tape of the completely first appearance. A new title has been released that fills the trajectory of Santana’s visit to Japan from the few 1974 performances.
