Description

Immediately after finishing the recording of “Formidable”, Martino’s first new work in 11 years, Martino, who is now the only master who allows us to hear the essence of authentic jazz guitar, performed with the regular trio that has been active together for 6 years. A miraculous night (complete recording of the first and second shows) is now available! ! ! Pat, the last jazz guitar giant, made his professional debut at the age of 15 and inherited and developed the authentic jazz guitar techniques of Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, and Tal Farlow.・In 2017, immediately after Martino completed his first album in 11 years, “Formidable” (released in 2018), he recorded it with organist Pat Bianchi and drummer Carmen Intore, with whom he had been active for six years. Two discs that are a complete package of the miraculous club concert in Tokyo, which took place on May 25, 2018, with two stages in one day, in the highest quality stereo sound that has been carefully mastered by the label. The set has arrived! ! ! Of course, the second stage was a set without a single song being duplicated, including Coltrane’s “Impressions,” Miles’ “Oreo,” Miles/Shorter’s “Footprints,” Wes’ “Full House,” Pat’s Juhachiban, and Bobby Hebb. “Sunny”, Pat’s signature original song “El Hombre”, which was also replayed on the album “Formidable”, and other mainstream jazz guitar songs that seem to be the culmination of Pat’s long and glorious career. This is a miraculous concert where you can enjoy a set list that embodies this and a spectacular performance. Pat still maintains his trademark machine-gun technique, and is known for his unique and beautiful tones, as well as his unparalleled perfection in octave playing, which was developed by Wes. Using the techniques that Pat has cultivated over a long period of time, he generously presents a performance that is truly a model for jazz guitar. Also, since I have been working with Pat for the past 6 years, I have no complaints about the support of Bianchi and Intre, who boast exquisite backup and a wonderful ensemble. This is packed with performances from the ultimate jazz guitar trio! ! ! Live at Cotton Club,Tokyo,Japan May.25.2017 Disc-1 First Show 1. Impressions 2. The Island 3. Four On Six 4.
