Fred Wesley & the New J.B.’s Fred Wesley/Switzerland 2014

The New JBs was formed by Fred Wesley, an officer of the funky corps JBs who served James Brown, the great general of funk. It has the smell of a bar in Asakusa where you can drink from noon since the Showa era, but this is a genuine funk band. A solid bass groove, a snappy electric piano, a three-point guitar cutting, and a sharp hi-hat everywhere. I would like to listen to this protruding part forever, but the horn section is not to be outdone. Or rather, this is the main role. The sound is so natural that it will make your body move, so if you listen to it on the train with headphones, you will be looked at curiously.
