Description
This February, two surprising Beatles-related sound sources appeared at once, delighting enthusiasts around the world. First, a demo of the masterpiece “Step Inside Love” that Paul gave to Cilla Black. Until now, this demo only existed in the worst sound quality with a sharp distortion from the nostalgic CBM LP “ABBEY ROAD REVISITED THOSE WERE THE DAYS”, but the original was an air check when it was broadcast on the radio, and the sound quality was so distorted that it was terrible. Still, since it was a genuine demo of “Step Inside Love”, enthusiasts were patient but grateful to listen to it. However, this February, an acetate of the demo suddenly appeared on YouTube, causing a stir among enthusiasts around the world. What was most impressive was the overwhelming improvement in sound quality. The previous sound source was at the level of “Paul barely singing”, but this time it was revealed that Paul had overdubbed the vocals and guitar, and even banged his knees or a table as a substitute for drums. Unlike the scenes where only a few snippets of the session were sung in “ANTHOLOGY 3” and “WHITE ALBUM” Deluxe, Paul sings the full chorus in this one. This new acetate excavation is the perfect opportunity to re-release “LAST LACQUERS,” a masterpiece that compiles the famous Beatles acetate recordings. The album was already very popular for being “easy to understand,” so there have been calls for a re-release for some time. So this week, the new “LAST LACQUERS” will be released, featuring the much-talked-about “Step Inside Love” demo! The demo of “Step Inside Love” was originally acetate, so there has been a lot of excitement among enthusiasts about erasing the scratch noise. Many enthusiasts, including Lord Leith, have tried it. Since multiple noise-erased versions have appeared, we asked “GRAF ZEPPELIN” to select the finish and supervise the entire release. Among the many, he selected the noise-removed version of the “Step Inside Love” demo produced by “csnyfan” as the best. However, the previous version with poor sound quality was not deleted and was included at the end as a bonus. This allows you to compare the difference in sound quality with this one. Not only that, the contents of the first disc have also been revised. “Misery” is included from a rehearsal acetate at the Cavern Club in 1962 that was unearthed last year. Unfortunately, only the first half has been released at this time, but I was surprised by the early performance with different lyrics. In addition, an early demo of “What Goes On”, which was not included in the original “LAST LACQUERS” made by fans and was recorded independently at the last release, became a hot topic. This was a fragment of less than 20 seconds last time, but this time it was included from a version newly released on YouTube by the owner of the acetate. Although his narration overlaps, the recording time has been expanded to 47 seconds this time. And as another surprising bonus track on the second disc, a dramatically improved version of “Thank you Guru Dev / Happy Birthday Mike Love” (also known as “Spiritual Regeneration”), sung by Paul to celebrate the birthday of Mike Love of the Beach Boys, who accompanied him on his training in India in 1968, was recorded from the broadcast master. The original was broadcast on the Beach Boys’ radio show in 1976, and the nostalgic LP “INDIAN ROPE TRICK” was recorded by air-checking it. This LP is also considered the best to this day, and was even included on the nostalgic CD compilation “VINYL TO CORE”. However, this time, the sound quality has been dramatically improved by recording from the radio broadcast master for the first time. In addition, the interview with Mike Love that overlapped at the beginning of the performance and the narration by Wolfman Jack, who hosted the show, were not cut, and the entire performance was recorded for the first time. As a result, two rare tracks from analog LPs were included on the second disc, and the sound quality of both tracks has improved over the past 50 years, which is truly tear-jerking. This is how the completely reborn “LAST LACQUERS” was reborn, but the title was a bit foreign (bitter smile), so this time we have reborn it as the more understandable “ESSENTIAL ACETATES 1958-1970”. While maintaining the ease of listening to the previous release, we have added amazingly improved sound sources, mainly the “Step Inside Love” demo that will make any enthusiast cry, as well as newly discovered sound sources!
