Description

ZZ TOP in the 1980s, who suddenly became the darling of the era with “ELIMINATOR”. This live album depicts the height of their heyday with superb sound. This work contains the “Donington performance on August 17, 1985”. It is an audience album from their appearance at the legendary festival “MONSTERS OF ROCK”. They stood at the holy ground of Donington three times (MONSTERS OF ROCK in 1983 and 1985, and DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL in 2009). Of those, they were the main act only in 1985. There is a sense of distance between the blues/southern rock band image and the HR/HM festival “MONSTERS OF ROCK”, but this was the truth of ZZ TOP in the 1980s. “ELIMINATOR”, which boldly incorporated synthesizers and sequencers, was an astronomical hit, establishing a stylish and cutting-edge position. It was a concert just before the release of “AFTERBURNER”, which was expected to take a further leap forward. This work, which cuts out such a highlight show, is of the highest quality. Anyway, it is ferociously clear. The feeling of the sound is not “like a sound board”, but the musical tones that reach straight are clear to the details. The taste of outdoor recording with zero venue acoustics is maximized, and there is no wind shaking or thinning of the bass, which tend to be drawbacks. Even if this was the latest digital recording, there is no doubt that it would have been released immediately without complaint. It is a clear sound that can be recommended without hesitation, even without the pillow words “for the 80s” and “for the outdoors”. ZZ TOP, who has become the “darling of the era”, is depicted with such quality. The opening “Got Me Under Pressure” has a full 80s taste. The show was roughly composed of 1/3 of the show’s performances, 1/3 of the show’s performances were “70’s hits + covers”, 1/3 of the show’s performances were “restarts of ‘DEGUELLO’ and ‘EL LOCO'”, and the remaining 1/3 of the show’s performances were the smash hit ‘ELIMINATOR’. In fact, 7 of the 11 songs on the album were played on a grand scale. In addition, ‘Can’t Stop Rockin” from the upcoming new album ‘AFTERBURNER’ was performed (probably for the second time that day). This was truly the epitome of the ’80s.’ This festival also featured MARILLION and RATT, who were enjoying their heyday, BON JOVI, who were on the verge of breaking out, and the up-and-coming METALLICA (their first time at Donington!), so it would not be surprising if they were accompanied by such shining stars. There was a lot of great and successful performances. The ‘ELIMINATOR’ era repainted ZZ TOP’s image and brought them huge success. Despite being the highlight of the band’s history, unfortunately there was no official full live album. This work is the perfect one to relieve such frustration. Not only is it the best, but it also sounds like you’re at the highlight festival. Live at Donington Park, Castle Donington, UK 17th August 1985 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1(37:58) 1.
