Description

ZZ TOP in 1994, when “ANTENNA” was a platinum hit and the final splendor of their heyday. This soundboard album, packed with rare tracks, will immerse you in the full show. This work features a stereo soundboard recording of the “August 19, 1994 Landover Performance.” While there are few audio records from the “ANTENNA” era, it’s actually a hidden gem known only to those in the know, offering plenty of delicious exclusive tracks. First, let’s unravel the overall picture and explore this work’s position. “ANTENNA” released on January 18th: April 30th – June 25th: North America #1 (35 shows); July 1st – 10th: Europe #1 (7 shows); July 23rd – September 11th: North America #2 (32 shows); ★Here★; September 21st – November 6th: North America #3 (32 shows); November 17th – December 22nd: Europe #2 (27 shows). This is ZZ TOP in 1994. Although they toured Europe twice, their main battlefield was North America. This Landover performance was the 18th performance of “North America #2,” which was right in the middle of it all. While soundboards have been known for this show for some time, this work is not a previously released copy or remastered reissue, but a new master that updates the highest peak. This is the original master unearthed through our own unique route, and it also includes songs that were previously cut. Let’s organize the full set, focusing on the additional songs and tour-exclusive songs. Antenna (6 songs): World of Swirl (★), Pincushion, Breakaway (★), Fuzzbox Voodoo, Antenna Head (★), PCH (★★) London Records era (4 songs): Waitin’ for the Bus, Jesus Just Left Chicago, Just Got Back from Baby’s (★), Just Got Paid Warner era (9 songs): I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide, Cheap Sunglasses, A Fool for Your Stockings, She Loves My Automobile, Tell It (★), Rough Boy, Gimme All Your Lovin’, Planet of Women, Legs *Note: Songs marked with a “★” are not performed after this tour. In particular, songs marked with a “★★” are cut from the previous master. …And so it goes. There are six songs that will not be performed on subsequent tours, and the new song “PCH,” which was missing from the previous master, is one of them. Also, while it doesn’t have a “★” mark, “Fuzzbox Voodoo” is worth noting. It’s unmarked because it was only performed once in 1997, but it’s almost exclusively an “ANTENNA Tour” track. And the rare tracks aren’t just from “ANTENNA.” “Tell It” from “RECYCLER” was only available in the early ’90s, and the ultimate highlight is “Just Got Back from Baby’s,” a classic from their debut album that hadn’t been played in over a decade. Both tracks were part of the “ANTENNA Tour” repertoire. It’s packed with rare tracks, but what makes this album so great is that you can enjoy them on a soundboard. This master, discovered by a core overseas enthusiast, is uniquely connected to the mix desk. Even when listening carefully with headphones, you can barely hear the cheers, but the performance and vocals are superbly detailed, down to the finest details. The mix, which is thought to be for the on-site PA, sounds exactly like the output, and even the vibrations of the strings and skins can be felt. While “ANTENNA” may seem a little low-key due to comparisons with their peak years, it was actually a staggering platinum hit. This soundboard album will imprint a mountain of these precious tracks into your brain. The previously unheard-of “PCH” is delicious, and the direct feel of the mix desk is a wonderful new masterpiece. This stereo soundboard recording of the “August 19, 1994 Landbar Performance” features a new master unearthed through unique routes, making this the longest and most updated album yet, featuring “PCH” not previously available on the album. This soundboard album will flood your brain with precious “ANTENNA” numbers, as well as exclusive tracks that will no longer be performed, such as “Tell It” and “Just Got Back from Baby’s.” US Air Arena, Landover, MD, USA 19th August 1994 STEREO SBD(from Original Masters) UPGRADE Disc:1 (43:42) 1.
