Description

Yngwie Malmsteen returned to Japan in 1998 with the dignified and strict masterpiece “FACING THE ANIMAL”. This newly excavated recording, which allows you to experience the scene at its finest, is being released for the first time in the world. It is available on 2CD with the shining sound of the original DAT master. Four original recordings of “INSPIRATION Tour” and “FACING THE ANIMAL Tour” will be released for the first time, and this work is the masterpiece of the latter. This is a super-class audience recording of “April 17, 1998: Aichi Welfare Pension Hall” accompanied by the master singer Mats Levin, who is also whispered to be the “hidden best talent”. Speaking of the Mats era, the official live album “LIVE!!” is also famous, so let’s start by sorting out the relative positions of each other from the overall tour picture. 1997 June 7th: Aviles performance (June 14th-16th: “New Century (Orchestra)” recorded) August 7th: Sao Paulo performance (September 3rd: “FACING THE ANIMAL” released) (September 15th-21st: “New Century (Guitar)” recorded) 1998 March 27th-29th: North America (2 performances) (April 5th: Cozy Powell passes away) April 5th-24th: Japan (14 performances) ←★Here★ May 1st-7th: South America (6 performances) ←※Official LIVE!! May 16th-June 14th: Europe (12 performances) July 10th: Upper Darby performance This is Yngwie in 1997 and 1998. At the time, there were high expectations for the collaborative project “Shinseiki” with the orchestra, but in between the production, “FACING THE ANIMAL” was also released. In addition to the participation of Cozy Powell, the dignified musical ideas and heroic singing voice of Mats were wonderful, and it was a masterpiece that tells how talented Yngwie was at that time. Cozy did not participate in the tour, but the Japanese performance coincidentally started on the anniversary of Cozy’s death. The Nagoya performance of this work was the 9th concert. This work, which vacuum-packed such a show, is a superb recording with “super”. It is the first appearance master brought by a unique route, but it’s already outrageous. The core is extremely thick, there is no sense of distance, and the details are super clear. The enthusiasm is so real (the customer on the right is a bit annoying) that I don’t mistake it for a sound board, but the performance sound and vocals are completely official grade… or rather, the official version “LIVE!!” which has an echo effect is farther away. The extremely thick direct sound depicts a neoclassical metal paradise colored by Mats’ heroic voice. The only rival of this work is the official version “LIVE!!”, so let’s have a match here. Facing the Animal (5 songs) My Resurrection / Facing the Animal / Like An Angel (For April) / Braveheart / Alone In Paradise Others (10 songs + α) Rising Force: Far Beyond the Sun / Black Star Trilogy: Trilogy Suite Opus 5 (incl. Red House, Badinerie) / You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget (★) Odyssey: Rising Force / Heaven Tonight (★) Seventh Sign: Seventh Sign / Never Die Others: I’ll See The Light Tonight / Bedroom Eyes *Note: The “★” mark indicates songs that cannot be heard on the hard live album “LIVE!!” … and so on. In “LIVE!!”, they performed “Gates of Babylon” and “Pictures of Home”, but in Japan, instead of cover songs, they performed classic songs such as “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” and “Heaven Tonight”. Of course, this is by far the better one. After all, Mads’ singing is amazing. His husky voice may not be very popular with the pure neoclassical crowd, but his singing ability, which allows him to sing anyone’s songs with ease, is one of the best in history. In fact, I think Mark Boals and Mads are the only ones who have sung this perfectly. Moreover, their singing is dignified and powerful. In modern terms, it’s like Ronnie Romero. “Operatic Mark Boals” vs. “Metallic Mads Levin”. Mark is probably the No. 1 singer in terms of neoclassical feel, but Mads is No. 1 in terms of his versatility in singing even pop songs heroically. This work is a new live album that allows you to enjoy the masterpieces that have been remade by such a powerful man behind the scenes with official sound. It is a special memory for us Japanese, but more than that, it is a masterpiece album from Japan that we can be proud of in the world. A superb audience recording of “April 17, 1998: Aichi Koseinenkin Kaikan”. This is the first appearance master brought by a unique route, the core is extremely thick, there is no sense of distance, and the details are super clear. It is a super direct recording that is closer to the sound than the official board “LIVE!!” which has an echo effect. Mats Levin also sings “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” and “Heaven Tonight”, which cannot be heard even in “LIVE!!”. This is a new excavation album from Japan that can be proud of the world.
