Description

This album includes the first day of Yngwie’s second Japan tour (first solo tour), “January 22, 1985 Osaka Welfare Pension Hall Performance”. This is his first solo live performance in Japan. This is a live album of a completely original master, digitized directly from the cassette that he received directly from the recorder. The sound is vivid and vivid because it is a master direct recording, and it is full of the liveliness that can only be achieved by recording from an audience. The big sound with a strong bass is also full of power. The power is so strong that there is a buzzing sound due to over-input in the parts with strong drum attacks (the sound output at the venue seems to be related), but not only the guitar, but also Jeff Scott Soto’s high notes are beautifully extended, and the separation of each instrument is perfect. Unlike “CHASING YNGWIE”, the show starts with “Carmina Burana”, which is familiar to Ozzy. From here, you can clearly see the high quality of the sound. And the power of “I’ll See The Light Tonight”, which starts immediately after the roar of one chord, is goosebump-worthy. With that power, the show runs to the very end. “Caught In The Middle”, “Little Savage”, “Keyboards Solo”, “Kojo No Tsuki”, and “Now Your Ships Are Burned”, which were not seen in “CHASING YNGWIE”, are also fully recorded. In particular, the rarity of “Caught In The Middle” and “Now Your Ships Are Burned” is dizzying! What’s more, what makes it different from “CHASING YNGWIE” is the documentary that can only be recorded in the audience. “CHASING YNGWIE” was also extremely vivid, but in the scene where the backing is sounding even though the video is not even picking (the performance is so amazing that you can’t understand it without the video, which is another great thing about Yngwie), I was like “What?”, but this work is 100% real. In “As Above, So Below”, there was a technical problem, and Jeff couldn’t start right away, and in “Anguish And Fear”, Jeff sang even after the drum solo. Even such troubles were perfectly suppressed. And even though it was 100% live, I was surprised again by the overwhelming live performance. The greatness of Yngwie, who is perfect in his accuracy and passion, has been talked about a lot, but Jeff’s vocals are just as amazing. On the first album “RISING FORCE”, the audition test take was used as it was, and on the second album “MARCHING OUT”, the muffled sound made it difficult to convey Jeff’s true talent. However, in this work, he can be heard singing a high note that stretches out, and he sings passionately with a husky voice, even though it is a live performance. In particular, the singing in “Now Your Ships Are Burned” is far more expressive than the studio album, which was only an audition take. In Japan, where people look for “formal beauty” in Yngwie, his successor Mark Boals is famous as “the number one singer in Yngwie’s history”, but it is Jeff who can express the true nature of the masterpieces of “MARCHING OUT”, which have metallic stylized phrases. If this had been a ballad with a soulful background, I don’t think there would have been any misunderstanding that “Yngwie’s singer is mechanical and tasteless”… Anyway, this is the first Japanese solo work of Yngwie, who reigned for many years as “Big in Japan”. This work, which contains it in the best sound, is a monument in the history of Yngwie’s recordings. Live at Koseinenkin Hall, Osaka, Japan 22nd January 1985 Disc 1 1. Carl Orff “Carmina Burana” 2.
